The transition from ICD-9 to
ICD-10 is less than a week away when all healthcare organizations covered by
the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) are required to be
ICD-10 compliant. There has been a considerable amount of stress mounting in
the healthcare industry due to this impending change, but one EHR certified
software vendor is setting the bar high by visiting with each of their clients
and working with them one-on-one to make sure they make it through the
transition seamlessly.
“We care about what our
clients care about,” said Clyde Wafford, president of OrionNet Systems. “We’ve
done an extensive amount research and spent a lot of time going over everything
that our clients will need to know and do to make sure their billing goes
through during this transition.”
In the October 1st
transition, the codes used to submit to Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross Blue
Shield, and virtually all other insurers will change to ICD-10. Every
diagnostic code currently used by therapists will become instantly
obsolete. Patient charges submitted
after October 1 with the outdated ICD-9 codes will be returned unpaid. Therapists
will either adapt to the new coding system or not receive payment.
“We’ve held ICD-10 training
webinars for all our members,” said Clyde Wafford. “And if they miss the
training, they can always call us or go on our website to see the training
videos again.”
OrionNet Systems has been in
business since 2001 and has dedicated their time and effort towards making a
product that helps behavioral health and substance abuse agencies help their
clients.
“Our members aren’t worried
about ICD-10 because they know that we have everything well in-hand,” said
Clyde Wafford.
