Many Oklahoma
agencies received a letter from the OHCA (Oklahoma Health Care Authority) about
the ADvantage Waiver Program and their ruling to recoup money going back for 2
years, which has many Oklahoma
agencies worried.
The ADvantage Waiver Program
is for the frail elderly and adults with physical disabilities age 21 and over
who do not have mental retardation or a cognitive impairment.

The recoup will involve an
in-depth investigation going back 2 years into the agencies’ billing to see
whether agencies billed for services on individuals involved in the ADvantage
Waiver Program, which would make them ineligible for certain services.
“Recouping money from 2 years
back will hit Oklahoma
agencies hard,” said Clyde Wafford, president of OrionNet Systems.
Some agencies are joining
together to fight the recoup.
“Strength is in numbers,”
said Clyde Wafford. “I hope if enough agencies join together and approach
OHCA then they can reconsider their decision on recouping so much so far back.”
Agencies have less than 20
days to respond to the state ruling. OrionNet Systems is willing to have their
team there to show their support for the affected behavioral health agencies.
“I hope everyone hit by this
will at least make their voice be known,” said Clyde Wafford.
