OrionNet Systems is Working to make ICD-10 Seamless - 7/17/2015

There will be major changes from ICD-9 to ICD-10.

Unlike the usual annual updates of ICD-9 codes, the ICD-10 codes are markedly different from their predecessors. And because ICD-9 codes are used in almost every clinical and administrative process in a health care setting, substantial system and procedural changes will be necessary to implement and correctly use the new codes. The updated code sets will allow, and in fact will require, significant changes in the way health plans reimburse services, and in the way coverage of services is determined. ICD-10 will enable significant improvements in care management, public health reporting, research, and quality measurement.

“We’re concerned and worried about how this transition will affect our customers as well as other agencies,” said Clyde Wafford, president of OrionNet Systems.  “We want to know, will the state be ready to take on this big of a change? Will agencies have to be prepared to deal with mass financial adjustments? We’re telling our agencies to be prepared financially to deal with this adjustment.”

OrionNet Systems will be working with the state to ensure their customers have a smooth transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10.

“We’re there for our members,” said Clyde Wafford. “We’ll be working with every agency on their denials and instituting an ICD-9 to ICD-10 crosswalk to make this transition seamless.”

OrionNet Systems warns agencies that are still paper-and-pen based that they should not take on this transition alone.

“This will be a difficult bridge to cross alone,” said Clyde Wafford. “OrionNet Systems is here to help.”
